Manscaping 101: The beard
Whether you are currently rocking a soul patch, a full beard, the Van
Dyck or a chin curtain, your bristles need to be cared for like you would the hair on your head.
Since the dawn of time, beards have been there to
1 – Show the ladies your sexual potency
2 – Warn other dudes not to mess with you
3 – To keep your face warm
And, to show your status of being part of the exclusive community of bearded he-men.
So, what is it exactly?
Your beard is a non-living strand composed of a protein called keratin. In short, it’s like your hair except the texture is different. Like your hair, your beard grows in cycles, beginning to sprout when you first hit puberty until after you have died (yeah it’s weird we know).
But while you have it, embrace it. NOW is the time for beard wax. Beard combs and most importantly beard oil.
How to use:
- Trim stray hairs and make sure that there is a hair gradient between your beard and non-bearded areas. You’re beard will also show you the shape of it, so let it grow – it knows what it’s doing.
- After showing and washing your beard, allow to dry completely before tackling the oil.
- Rub 3-4 drops of the Beardmob beard oil into both palms of your hands and fingers. Apply to beard in an upwards motion. Start underneath, alternating the rubbing from left to right, but be gentle… finally run the Beardmob beard comb through your beard to make sure that the oil is evenly distributed.
How often to use?
For most gents, once a day is adequate. But make sure that your beard is clean and dry before each application; otherwise it won’t be absorbed correctly. Avoid doing it before bed, unless you don’t mind getting it over your pillows.
Head into a Markham store and you’ll see the Beardmob range of grooming products. Each designed to keep those whiskers under control and looking great. By using the Beardmob range of beard oil, your beard will be hydrated (making it grow softer, allows for you to brush / comb / style your beard) all while making sure your skin underneath is moisturized.
